We Commissioned a Mural

Big changes came to 305 Shotwell Street in November 2025.  We received a storefront improvement grant from the city of San Francisco and we had muralist Bunnie Reiss paint a wrap around mural on our building.

It was a big job which first required painting a base coat over the red.

Bunnie flew out to California from Michigan  and spent the next two weeks dodging unseasonable rainstorms and painting the mural.  It was truly amazing to watch this one-woman show.

The mural is titled The Clappers of Mission Creek and features California Clapper birds and cattails which were both abundant in our neighborhood before it was developed.  Today, Mission Creek still runs underneath our street but the Clappers and cattails have long been displaced.

The mural wraps around the building so be sure to check out the 17th street side as well.
