Michelle Thomas Watercolor

Michelle is a very talented artist who has her own gallery in San Francisco.  She frequently uses our paper for her gorgeous watercolors. These were part of a series she did titled Transplants. She used our paper made from cotton rags with San Francisco palm frond inclusions as the palm tree, while a symbol of California, is not a native plant.

Handmade paper by Pam DeLuco of Shotwell Paper Mill adds tone and nuanced complexity to the negative spaces in my watercolor paintings; the texture of each paper category brings a new set of variables to challenge and expand the character of my practice. Pam DeLuco’s papers include local materials, from San Francisco palm fronds to seaweed from Ocean Beach, which have individual resonance beyond the subject of a painting. A delight to the senses, each sheet is an artwork unto itself.
